Léa Bellili

Biography

Léa Bellili, soprano, began her musical career on the cello before joining the Académie Vocale de Paris, directed by Iain Simcock.

She then entered the Conservatoire in a singing class taught by Yann Toussaint and Françoise Tillard.

She then went on to perfect her skills at the Opéra-Studio Canto in Toulouse, and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland with Ulrike Hofbauer.

She also took part in numerous masterclasses with Cécile de Boever, David Bollen, Frédéric Calandreau, Bianca Chillemi, Michèle Crider, Nathalie Dang, Jean-Paul Fouchécourt, Jean-Pierre Furlan, Guillaume Haldenwang, Yoan Héreau, Alexis Kossenko, Irene Kudela, Annick Massis, Mélanie Moussay, Laurent Naouri, Antoine Palloc, Jan Schulstz, Béatrice Uria-Monzon and Regina Werner. 

She was a prizewinner at the Sablé-sur-Sarthe Festival Academy in 2017 and of the Centre international Nadia et Lili Boulanger in 2023.

She was also awarded Mention Très Bien at the UMPCF Competition (Paris) in 2017 and 2nd Prize at the Concours des Lyres et des Arts (Paris) in 2018 and in 2023 the 2nd prize at the London International Music Competition and the bronze medal at the Amadeus International Music Awards (Salzburg).

As part of her studies, she has performed on stage Morgana in Alcina by G.F. Handel, Sophie in Werther by J. Massenet, Despina in Cosi fan tutte by W.A. Mozart, Soeur Constance in Dialogue des Carmélites by Poulenc, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier by R. Strauss (extracts), Gilda in Rigoletto by G. Verdi (extracts) and Aanchen in Der Freischütz by C.M. von Weber (extracts).

In 2017, she was Cis in Albert Herring by B. Britten at the Théâtre Pajol in Paris.

In 2018, she was Music in Les Plaisirs de Versailles by M.-A. Charpentier at the Théâtre Jacques Brel in Pantin (France)

In 2019, she is Drusilla in L’incoronazione di Poppea by C. Monteverdi at the Berlin Opern Fest, she is also Zima in Les Indes Galantes by J.-P. Rameau at the Théâtre Jacques Brel (Pantin, France) and solo soprano in the Missa Votiva by J.D. Zelenka at the Festival du Temps Suspendu. She also joined the young singers’ academy of the Ensemble Aedes conducted by Mathieu Romano at the Cité de la Voix in Vézelay.

In 2021, she will be Belinda in Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell at the Théâtre Jean Arp (Clamart, France), and she will take part in the Saline Royale Academy with François Le Roux.

In 2022, she took part in the production of West Side Story by L. Bernstein at the Opéra National du Rhin and joined the young singers’ academy at the Opéra de Massy.

In 2023, she was the girl in the creation of « Café Libertà » by Les Paladins conducted by Jérôme Correas at the Opéra de Massy and at Angers Nantes Opéra. 

She also joined the young singers’ academy of Les Frivolités Parisiennes and was in the chorus for W.A. Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with Opera Fuoco conducted by David Stern and F. Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites at the Opéra de Massy.

In 2024, she will be Alminera in Rinaldo by G.F. Handel with the Académie Lyrique d’Opéra Nomade, Alma in the creation « Alma, correspondances entre Lili Boulanger et Alicia Gallienne » (supported by the Centre international Nadia et Lili Boulanger) in Strasbourg, and soprano solo in the creation « 1993 » (a joint composition by Lise Borel, Inès Halimi, Philippe Hattat and Hugo Macé supported by the Fondation Singer-Polignac) in Paris.

She will also be in the chorus for Giulio Cesare by G.F. Handel at the Paris Opéra (Garnier).

In recent years she has worked with Harry Bicket, Marcus Borja, David Charles Abelli, Yves Coudray, Mireille Delunsch, Christina Domnick, Catherine Dune, Barrie Kosky, Peter Leonard, Liora Maurer, Marc Minkowski, David Paul, Laurent Pelly, José-Miguel Perez-Sierra, Otto Picher and Ambra Senatore.

Lastly, she regularly performs in piano-voice duos with the pianist Philippe Hattat, with whom she has two current programmes based on R. Strauss and V. Ullmann, and J. Sibelius and K. Saariaho.
